I just read the article about the venture of father and son Royeca about the VoIP. They might be running their Voice over Internet Protocol already (VoIP) here in the Philippines this days. How fascinating, a father and son come up with a the same idea of utilizing the broadband to compete with some developed countries like Canada and the rapidly developing India.

Recently I read also an article on the Philippine Star about the cost cutting of the government about its expenses on telecommunications. And Microsoft corporation has offered a VoIP means of communication to cut down the expenses.

The real issue here is that the Philippines has already its VoIP operated and owned by Father and son Royeca. That the Royeca has started first the VoIP in the Philippines, not to mention that they are offering some FREE services as mentioned in the previous news posted on iNQ7.net dated June 28, 2006. Yesterday I read an article on Philippine Star about the VoIP of Microsoft, and it looks to me that Microsoft will be favored than the Royeca.

This should not be done, if the Microsoft will get the grant or be granted for the project, Microsoft will monopolize the Philippines’ concept of broadband. Anyway, we favor to be manipulated by other (foreigner) than be manipulated by ourselves.

The Philippine education is offering courses relevant in today trends and in connection with technology and communication, but most of the government agencies utilized only computers as enhanced typewriter.

This is one of the reason why computerized counting of election returns did not materialized. That the capability of the computers and the wireless connection for many among the Filipino is not reliable and even prone to cheating.

If we will to evaluate the number of computer and internet user Filipinos, out of 85 million population (as 2003), there are only 12 million utilizing the internet. This is one of the reasons why Pay Pal (payment processor) has adopted Philippine as one of their catered countries world wide.

Let us continue this topic after election. Let us see what will happen on the issue regarding telecommunication cost cutting expenses, Microsoft VoIP and the Royeca VoIP.
