Veteran morning daytime host Diane Sawyer announced Monday morning that she is leaving ABC's Good Morning America. She said this is to be her final week.

(CNN) -- There was more laughter than tears on Friday as "Good Morning America" bid farewell to the anchor who has helmed the morning news show's desk for the past ten years.

Sawyer does so, without great fanfare. It's a transition plan designed to limit big expectations, and to be in deference to Charles Gibson , who retired Friday.

It's the first time the reporter, who turns 64 on Dec. 22, has publicly addressed her departure, which has made headlines for weeks. Sawyer joined GMA in '99 as a temporary gig but stayed on because of high ratings.

The cast of the ninth season of Dancing With the Stars was announced this morning on Good Morning America. Tom Bergeron announced that the following celebrities would be paired with dancing professionals for the new season of DWTS, set to debut on September 21st at 8:00 PM on ABC, WSB’TV in Atlanta.

ABC says Chris Cuomo is leaving "Good Morning America" to co-host the newsmagazine "20/20."The move paves the way for the announcement — expected imminently — that George Stephanopoulos (stehf-uh-NAHP'-uh-luhs) will join the morning show.
