India confirmed on Wednesday six more deaths from the deadly influenza A (H1N1) virus, taking the total swine flu deaths in the country to 17, the health ministry said.

Six swine flu deaths, including three from Maharashtra, took the total of India's swine flu deaths to 405 Thursday, health ministry said.

The swine flu death toll in India has climbed up to 413, with the demise of 5 more persons reported from different parts of the country on Sunday.

No deaths due to swine flu occurred today but 169 new cases of the disease was reported from across the country with the maximum number being from Kerala.
