The H.N.B. Garhwal University has now been upgraded as a Central University w.e.f. 15th of January, 09 by Central Universities Act, 09. The University is nestled in lap of Himalayan ranges in Garhwal region. It came into being on December 1, 1973 by the UP Government Notification with its Headquarter at Srinagar (Garhwal). It has two other
teaching campuses at Pauri and Tehri Garhwal. It is a residential cum affiliating institution of higher learning with more than 150 affiliated colleges and is considered to be among the top ten large universities in the country.
