India Monday approved state-of-the-art security for the 2010 Common wealth Games at an estimated cost of Rs.370 crore - a move that also aims to set a benchmark for all big events in future.
At 9.30 on Tuesday morning, the Park Hospital in Hyderabad, a five-floor building, found itself on fire. The relatively new hospital (it was opened six months ago) could have turned into a death trap- it did not have adequate fire safety measures including fire exits. Many passengers jumped out of their rooms to escape the flames that engulfed the post-operative wards and the Intensive Care Unit.

In a shockingrevelation, Satyam Computer Services Ltd’s promoter and chairman, B Ramalinga Raju admitted to a fraud to the tune of Rs 7,000 crore in the company’s balance sheet.In a letter to the board, Raju said the company’s cash and bank balance as on Sep 30, 2008, was inflated by Rs 5,040 crore as against Rs 5,361 crore reflected in the books.
Diversified business house Videocon Group is making an ambitious foray into the direct-to-home services with plans to garner one crore subscribers in the next six years.The group, which made an announcement of Rs 1,000 crore for the DTH venture earlier, made a soft launch of its 'Videocon D2H' services last evening in Macau in front of its 2,500 dealers, who where specially flown in there.
