With Delhi police confirming violation of parole norms by Jessica Lall murder case convict Manu Sharma, serving a life sentence, a top government official today said he may not get the benefit of the temporary release in future.

Manu Sharma, serving a life sentence for the 1999 murder of model Jessica Lal, voluntarily returned to the Tihar Jail here Tuesday following the raging controversy over the Delhi government’s decision to grant him parole for two months.

Breaking News! After being grilled by the electronic and print media over the alleged violation of parole rules by Jessica Lal murder accused Manu Sharma, the Delhi Police asked Sharma to surrender. Manu Sharma surrendered before the Delhi Police a short while ago and returned to jail, even as his parole was due to end on November 22.

Nationwide, there are more than 2,200 juveniles serving sentences of life without parole. That figure includes dozens of children as young as 13 years old.
