Research In Motion Ltd., maker of the BlackBerry phone, said Thursday that some of its North American customers are experiencing outages with the phone's BIS, or BlackBerry Internet Service which is affecting their email service.

As expected, customers can purchase a contract-free, unlocked Nexus One smartphone direct from Google for $529, or buy a subsidized handset through carrier T-Mobile for $179, the search giant announced Tuesday.
Through the Google Web store, customers will be able to buy a phone without service, or with service through a partner. Phones with a service contract will be offered at a subsidized, less expensive price. As of Tuesday, customers can purchase a phone only with T-Mobile, though that will soon change.

Sistema Shyam Teleservices Ltd (SSTL) has launched its high speed data service MBlaze under its mobile telephony arm MTS. The service comes bundled with free use of a few select web sites.

The server of Hotmail was obviously too busy a few hours ago. We can’t login to Hotmail because it’s down. This is not the first time that the Hotmail “server is too busy” was seen by our team in the last few years of maintaining an account with Microsoft’s email service.

Airtel and Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX: RIM) today introduced a new service plan specifically for Airtel customers in India. The BlackBerry® Personal Mail service plan is an innovative offering that provides Airtel customers with unlimited email and instant messaging (IM) on BlackBerry® smartphone for just Rs. 499 per month. It is the first service plan priced at less than Rs. 500 to offer unlimited email and IM to BlackBerry smartphone customers in the Indian market.

It appears that Yahoo Mail is suffering from an outage. Complaints from Yahoo Mail users are all over Twitter. It’s unclear how extensive the outage is and what is causing the issue but we’ll report back when we find out.

India’s largest telecom service provider BSNL has provided EVDO data card to provide high speed internet everywhere in India. The service has been possible due to the recently launched 3G network in India. And, BSNL has thus become the first company to launch that service. However, the service will be available initially in some selected cities in India.

Internet service provider Tata Indicom Boardband on Tuesday launched a service which would allow users global internet roaming access inover 160 countries using the same account."People are now used to using mobile phones on roaming and internet roaming is the next step on customer convenience and productivity enhancement for bsuinesses," Tata Indicom boardband's Head (sales & marketing) Mehul Kapadia was quoted as saying in a conmpany statement here.
