Yes, it is possible to speed up the Disk Cleanup Scanning time in Windows XP by deleting the old compressed files in the registry entry. Following are the steps to delete the old compressed files in the Registry:
1. Click on Start and open the Run command.
2. Type regedit in the text box and hit enter.
3. Navigate to the following location by clicking on '+' symbol next to each folder.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\VolumeCaches.
4. Click on old compressed old files registry entry, then right click and press delete button to delete the entry.
5. Restart the system to take the effect of the system.
