Yi So-yeon, a 29 years old and a bioengineer South Korean lady, Oleg Kononenko, Russian cosmonaut and Sergei Volkov, the commander flew out of space from Russia’s Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

This is another obvious example that women have no difference from men when it comes to capacity and efficiency. Bioengineer Yi So-yeon parents must have been so proud her accomplishments especially on this event. You can read further info about this news here.

Both North and South Korea should look on this types of events to inspire their people and further tighten their newly reunited families and friends rather exchanging political stirring words. Koreans are Koreans and they should be proud of their race by having such female asset like Bioengineer Yi So-yeon.

North Korea vs. South Korea

12

April

Due to malicious speeches, written policies and political interests North Korea and South Korea have again reach another deadlock that might ignite into another chapter of World History. The short-range missiles are an indications for these countries that they are ready to engage in war again.

Due to self and political interests South Korea and North Korea separated for long years and just been reunited a couple years back. Because of the dispute, families and relatives and friends were separated for a long time. The pending war will not only separate these people again, but to displace them into another catastrophic phenomenon. Every Korean knows this for sure.

In the previous reunions of families, both South and North Korea displayed immeasurable love for the human race, this event had made another mark in the World History of bringing peace to the people, not for Koreans themselves, but to the whole world.

Today, the human race wanted peace and we can only achieve this by having such communications in consideration to both interests. Until no one is giving up such for the sake of the other, not only North Korea and South Korea, but all the nations will never achieve peace.

Rice Shortage in a Harvest Season

04

April

rice.jpg

Rice shortage is being experience today even it is harvesting season in some other places. China, Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam as major rice exporters have controlled their rice exports to sustain their country’s needs of rice.

Rice is one of the people’s staple food. Such a news about rice shortage is alarming especially in the lower and middle classes of societies where rice is the primary food on their tables and don’t have the capacity to support a month stock.

It is obvious that most of the agricultural land where rice is being planted or an arable land that could be converted into rice plantation were transformed into industrial facilities. During the past decades, though there had been news also about rice shortage, the rice shortage today is far chaotic. This is because the population have doubled or even tripled and lands suppose to be used in planting rice were converted into industrial facilities, recreation areas like golf courses and others were transformed into subdivisions and other housing projects.

The population is rapidly growing and arable lands continue to lessen. What do we expect? Rice shortage is only the first problem to appear at this time. There are other problems that may arise in which a result of these rice plantations being taken for granted.

Mud Cake of Haiti

30

January

Most of the Haiti people today turned into eating mud cake. They first strain the mud to remove stones in it, put some mixture of vegetables and then they let it dry under the sun. Though this mud cake is rich in calcium, eating it in regular basis is not good for their health, said the health specialists. Today, this is the food being eaten by these poorest people in the hemisphere.

Even before, Haiti is already poor and it is getting poorer and poorer. Though the United Nation extended help for this country, it is not yet enough to sustain the continuously growing population.

The economic downfall of the United States has affected many countries and Haiti is one of the most affected one. The increased price on energy (coal products) has lead most if not all of the products being sold in Haiti to increase prices too.

The World Trade Organization (WTO)

28

February

WTO has come up with an access to different countries.  The aim of the WTO is to make these developing countries join in the global market.  That the local products or crops being manufactured in the localities should be sold to other member countries - an exchange of products in a broader arena of market.

Developing countries are unable to grasp the global market due to insufficient resources.

The Philippines as a member country, rice is the staple food.  The ballooning population demands a greater supply of rice.  Thought Philippines is an agricultural land the rice being produced is not enough to sustain the needs of its people.  Thus, the government resulted to import rice from other countries.

It so happen that the price of the imported rice compared to the local produced rice, the imported rice is more cheaper than the local produced, giving the local farmers inability to compete with the imported rice.

Although the government has specific ruling on the quantity of products to be imported, the effects on the small and medium industries are big that sooner or later these industries will die.
Kenya is another country being affected by the WTO.  The farmers too are unable to compete in the world market.  The local milk products (eg margarine), the price in the local market is higher than the margarine imported from other member countries.  Since the products are imported, the business of the other countries will gain and the products made local will loss.

The same with Indonesia, if agreed upon, small fishermen will soon die because the waters of Indonesia will then be exploited by foreign fishing boats.  Indonesian fisher folks could not compete with these huge and advance facilities of foreign fishing boats.

These are only few of the problems of the less develop countries that the WTO should look upon.

PGMA with WEF indeed a successful meeting!

29

January

At 4:30 p.m. President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo arrived at Villamor Air Base loaded with opportunities. Her meeting with the Presidents and CEOs from World Economic Forum (WEF) in Switzerland indeed a success because according to her, some of these big personalities pledge big investments in the country. Congratulations Madam!

One of the pledges that took my attention is pledge of British investment on power. The bast and only power source that could sustain power consumption is Nuclear Power Plant. Though some of our neighboring countries use Nuclear power for their power source, here in the Philippines had tried once and construct a nuclear power plant. The site was in Morong, Bataan. This had been conducted during the President Marcos regime.

During the construction of the said plant, people from nearby provinces benefited on the construction via daily wages. Yet after the construction was done when the plant was to be operated. A multitude came from different provinces, through mass media became hesitant on the utilization of the plant, most of them were questioning about the devastating waste on the coastal area, and the possible disastrous event that would arise. During these times, the Chernobyl nuclear power plant explosion was so intense due to the liabilities brought by radioactives contaminations. People of the Philippines didn’t want this to happen.

In addition, during the Aquino Administration, the plant was examined for reconsideration, but it was found that the plant had lots of defects. Thus, made them (the people) to react vehemently on the suspension to operate the Nuclear Power plant.

A fews years after, the area became a refugee camp of Vietnamese that crossed the boarder. Then the authority decided that these refugees be transfered to Palawan because they (authority) planned that the site be transformed into a tourist’s spot.

Once again, five years or more from now, a Nuclear Power plant will arise to sustain the growing power consumption of the country through the effort of PGMA. It is true that Nuclear power plant is beneficial, but the Filipino people, how broad do you think their intellectual knowledge about nuclear (plant)? Furthermore, the Philippines being one of top ten most corrupt country worldwide, how reliable will be the significance of constructing a Nuclear power plant? Does history repeat itself?

Abangan ang susunod na kabanata………

Since Madam President is broadcasting her successful meeting with foreign investors, and according her, this will come soon, then as soon as possible, the government should formulate a program that will enhance and broaden the awareness of her constituents about Nuclear power source and, as mentioned on the previous post, educate the people of all sectors on the possibilities both good and bad that will arise that needs to be treated accordingly. Just like fire drill, earthquake drill and any other drills are being conducted so as to react accordingly when an incident occurs.

Hep hep…………..Hurray!…………..

Bush plan….. not good

18

January

Bush plan to deploy additional military troops to Iraq is confirmed according to his speech last Sunday on TV. He will also proves this strategy to his coming State of the Union address to the congress. But the senate and the Democrat-controlled house of Representative is planning a symbolic yet political resolution to oppose Bush’s decision.

Pew Research center released a poll about Bush plan and 61 percent of the respondent opposes the plan, while 31 percent favored it.

Democrats in New York likewise opposes Bush’s plan due to the idea that some military personnel will be coming from Afghanistan; therefore, the strength there will be lessen.

Bush’s plan is to send about 21,500 more US troops to Iraq in order to stabilize Baghdad and Anbar province.

Out Cry of Saddam Hussein

16

January

The hanging of Saddam Hussein still lingers to the world. Everybody gives different reactions about it. But what really is the point? When Saddam is still alive, he manipulates everything around Iraq affecting the world by its inhumane actions and a lot of affected people wishes that he be captured and penalize. Yet the time has come that he ended also in an inhumane outcome.

The worst, again, a lot of people reacted about it. If you notice, if a murder commits a crime (brutally) everybody especially the victim’s family wanted the criminal to be punished the way the victim was killed, but when it is done, a lot people reacted, giving different views about the brutality of the punishment. In addition, if there are consequences occurred allegedly in relation to the incident, the next to be blamed is the media due to its irresponsible journalism.

Could you imagine the scenario? Everyone is passing the blame to somebody, yet nobody wants to accept it. What an ironic situation.

Who killed Saddam? In a layman’s point of view, the person who put the rope is the one responsible, but in a political view, well, who else do you think?

In the first place, why do you think Saddam made such things to Iraq, what motivated him to do so. As the allegedly peace maker of the world, United Sated entered in scenario and take advantage of Saddam and Iraq?

We have a lot of questions and there are lots of answers. Is it letter a or b? What ever it is, your answer is correct because it on based on your own point of view.
