A.R. Rahman was conferred with a honorary doctorate by the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) on June 7th. It's been raining awards and accolades for the Mozart of Madras ever since he won two Oscars this year.

Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) will confer a doctorate degree on music maestro A R Rahman, who created history by becoming the first Indian to bag two Oscars, varsity officials said Wednesday.

“We have decided to celebrate Rahman’s Oscar victory by presenting him the doctorate degree at the upcoming annual convocation to be organised on the campus Mar 25,” AMU spokesperson Rahat Abrar told IANS on telephone.
