Poor response from voters for the first Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections once again reflected the apathy of citizens of the capital towards local body polls. Save for a few minor incidents, polling was peaceful and low turnout was universal across the 150 divisions on Monday.

The morale of Praja Rajyam ’s official candidates for the forthcoming elections to the GHMC suffered a setback as film star and Yuva Rajyam president Pawan Kalyan has reportedly expressed his inability to campaign for them.

Battle lines have been drawn for elections to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation GHMC , the first to the local body since it has come into existence.
